This is Origin Story

Founded by Academy Award-winning storyteller Ryan Silbert, Origin Story Entertainment is a multi-platform entertainment company with a focus on global storytelling. Origin Story has worked with best-in-class creators such as Spike Lee, Stephen King, James Patterson, George A. Romero, and Stan Lee to develop and expand their properties in film, tv, audio and digital media. 

Silbert and Origin Story are responsible for several franchise universes. Silbert is co-creator alongside Marvel legend Stan Lee and Luke Lieberman of Stan Lee’s Alliances. In a unique partnership with Christine Romero’s Sanibel Films, Origin Story has developed —RomeroVerse—to expand a select group of horror icon George A. Romero’s legacy projects as an internationally-branded narrative. Out of that is the recently announced Amazon’s MGM Studios production of the sequel to Night of the Living Dead.

Origin Story’s expansion into audio and publishing include the New York Times bestseller Alliances: A TRICK OF LIGHT, a global audio event produced by Amazon’s Audible Studios with voice talent that included Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Kana Hanazawa. The recently released prequel A NEW REALITY with Wil Wheaton became an instant Amazon best-seller and winner of the prestigious 2021 Audio Verse Award. Also with Audible Studios, the company produced the blockbuster audio drama series The Coldest Case starring Aaron Paul, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Krysten Ritter, co-created and written by James Patterson, Ryan Silbert and Aaron Tracy. The Coldest Case received a 2021 Lovie Award from the Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences’ in recognition of the best in European scripted audio and is a 2022 Audie Award nominee and two time Webby Award nominee for Best Audio Drama and Audiofile Magazine’s Earphones Award Winner.. Season Two is in production for release in 2024.

In film, Origin Story is in preproduction on a feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s #1 New York Times Best-Seller THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON with Village Roadshow, Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment (It, Lego Movie) and Sanibel Films. Also with Vertigo, Sanibel and Roadshow is the recently announced Night of the Living Dead Sequel acquired by Amazon’s MGM Studio’s Nikyatu Jusu directing off of a LaToya Morgan script. Origin Story’s comic book imprint Figment will debut with ALLIANCES: ORPHANS in Fall 2022 in association with Dynamite Entertainment (The Boys) with legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz painting an original story by Lee, Silbert and Lieberman.

Origin Story’s non-fiction work includes DirecTV’s All-Stars project which received the prestigious Cynopsis Social Good Award in filmmaking and is currently developing a doc-series centered in the world of video games.

Ryan Silbert is the founder of Origin Story Entertainment. Ryan founded Origin Story to create a content company responsible for developing and producing global narratives that can live across multiple platforms: film, television, audio, immersive, and digital experiences. 

With work recognized by the Academy Awards®, the Canadian Academy of Film & Television, Audies, Tribeca Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Museum of Modern Art, ACE-Producers, the Gothams, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Berlinale, Silbert’s expansive repertoire includes such films as the Academy Award® winning short-film, God of Love; Julius Onah’s debut feature Spike Lee’s The Girl is in Trouble; and the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon with Village Roadshow, Sanibel Films and Vertigo Entertainment.

As a creator, writer and author, Silbert is responsible for three franchises: Stan Lee’s Alliances working alongside Stan Lee and Magik Doom; RomeroVerse in partnership with Christine Romero’s Sanibel Films; and The Coldest Case with James Patterson Entertainment and Friendly Heights which was 2021’s Top Ten most listened to global audio project on Audible. (Silbert received a Lovie Award and a nomination for Best Audio Drama by the Audie Awards and two nominations for Best Scripted Podcast and Best Writing honoree by the Webby Awards and for his writing on The Coldest Case). 

 He recently expanded Origin Story’s footprint into comic book publishing with the launch of his creator-owned Figment imprint with partner Luke Lieberman (Red Sonja, Alliances). Their first published work is set for release in Fall 2022 with legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz (New Mutants, Moon Knight) and Szymon Kudranski (X-Men, Action Comics).

Ryan is active in his philanthropic efforts as an appointed member of the Cornell Communication Advisory Board, the trustee-appointed Cornell University Council and recipient of the Cornell CALS Young Alumni Achievement Award which is the university’s most prestigious alumni service honor. His volunteer work has supported Sundance, the Gothams, Producers Guild of America, Trans-Atlantic Partners, New York University, National Board of Review, AFI, Film Independent, ACE-Producers, and The Podcast Academy. He is a board  member of Film-Raderie a nonprofit organization committed to developing the careers of underrepresented storytellers and a Lecturer at Rutger’s Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Prior to Origin Story, he began his career managing communication for Hasbro’s toy lines including Transformers and Beyblades which he helped launch in the U.S. market. He has worked as a creative consultant with several international start-ups in food and beverage including Heavy Water Vodka where he worked alongside spirits luminaries Anistatia Miller and Jared Brown of Mixellany Limited in developing the vodka and its branding plus illyusa in which he created multiple award-winning international creative campaigns with their head of marketing and artists relations including helping to curate the revolutionarily Galleria illy experiential cafe in Manhattan which became the template for the companies international retail roll-out.

His work as a director and producer includes multiple award-winning commercials, music videos, and branded entertainment including work for Amanda Palmer, Stephen Kellogg, the Olympics, NBC, E&J Gallo, DirecTV, Avon, BBC, Verizon, Children’s Aid Society, Cisco, Clarins, Pernod-Ricard and Samsung

Silbert graduated with honors from Cornell University with a dual degree in Communication and Business and received his MFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Film Program where he also completed a post-doc, investigating immersive narratives in games and film.
