Lionsgate, which is releasing the adaptation of Stephen King novel The Long Walk this fall, is staying in business with the best-selling super-author.

The company has optioned the rights to King’s 1999 novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, setting JT Mollner, the filmmaker behind the well-regarded thriller Strange Darling, to write and direct the adaptation.

The project marks a return to King country for Mollner, who wrote the script for Long Walk, which was directed by Francis Lawrence and opens Sept. 12.

Paul and Ritter will reprise their roles for the second season of The Coldest Case, releasing in 2024 and co-written by Aaron Tracy and Ryan Silbert. The second season follows Billy (Paul) and Patti Harney (Ritter) investigating a series of seemingly unrelated, gruesome murders, whose victims are all men in their 70s and 80s. Little do they know, the investigation may connect with the choices made by their once-young office father years ago.

Stan Lee's Alliances Universe is to get its prelude Traitor's Revenge, painted by Bill Sienkiewicz,is to be published separately as its own comic book, through Kickstarter. Dynamite are using Kickstarter to spin off special editions and collector's items from the Stan Lee's Alliances: Orphansgraphic novel by Luke Lieberman Ryan Silbert, Bill Sienkiewicz and Syzmon Kudranski. The Kickstarter campaign also offers the standard hardcover edition of the book, a limited edition exclusive logo-free "virgin" edition of the book, as well as signed versions and a digital edition.

In an American Film Market package coming together that could wake the dead, Village Roadshow Pictures has partnered with Chris Romero and the late George A. Romero’s Sanibel Films, Origin Story, Vertigo and Westbrook Studios on what all hope will create a new franchise from Night of the Living Dead.

That is the 1968 Pittsburgh-shot film that godfathered the flesh-eating zombie genre that has nourished Hollywood in countless movies and series like The Walking Deadand its spinoffs. The film will be directed by Nikyatu Jusu and written by LaToya Morgan. They are keeping the logline under wraps, but clearly hungry corpses will be on the menu.
